Moving to Pillowfort
Apr. 9th, 2025 09:38 pmI'm moving all my stuff over to Pillowfort since there are rumours about Tumblr shutting down. Pillowfort is probably my favourite Tumblr alternative (technically Dreamwidth is but none of my friends want to come here because it's harder to navigate on mobile.) But this site is like if Livejournal/Dreamwidth and Tumblr had a baby. There are so many things to love about it. There are fanfiction communities (communities for just about anything really), I can choose who sees my posts. Blacklisting tags and content actually hide the entire post, instead of telling you a post has filtered content and then showing you the most tempting button to push to see the content anyway. It's so calm and chill, I almost don't want tumblrinas to find out about it.
Because I hate Tumblr. Don't get me wrong; I love the friends I've made there, the communities I've built in the classic rock and MCU fandoms. Which is why I cannot bring myself to delete my blog. But I hate the toxicity of some fandoms, the constant antisemitism, and blatant terrorist worship. It's exhausting. Pillowfort and Dreamwidth are literally like the names suggest; like the pillow forts you would build as a child and wouldn't let the adults in because you built this yourself. It's a place you can go to enjoy fandom.
I am sad about Tumblr potentially shutting down because I've made a lot of friends over there, and my blog is nearly 4 years old. But at the same time, I'm relieved about moving to these other platforms and being able to curate my fandom experience and avoid negativity.
But enough rambling. Here's the link to my blog:

Needless to say, I won't stop posting to DW. This will always be my favourite journal site because of all the control I have over my own experience, the friends that I am slowly gaining over here (you all are few, but you're amazing), as well as just the general nostalgic internet aaesthetic. Pillowfort is just where I'm going to jump ship to if Tumblr ever goes down. And I'm already loving it more than Tumblr.
